With this quick shepherd's pie recipe, you can make your dinner simple but satisfying. This recipe is the ideal comfort food, topped with a delicious mash.

List of ingredients  for this recipe:

  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 500g Lamb Mince
  • 1 1/2 tbs tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup (35g) gravy powder
  • 1 Tbs Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups (210g) frozen diced vegetables
  • 2 x 350g Potato Mash

Preparation Steps

01Preheat the grill to high heat. In a large frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes, or until the onion softens.  Add the minced meat and cook for 5 minutes, or until the mince changes colour, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up lumps. Stir in the tomato paste until everything is well combined.

02Over the mince mixture, sprinkle gravy powder. 1 cup (250ml) water and Worcestershire sauce to blend, stir everything together. Bring to a low boil, then reduce to low heat. Toss in the veggies. Cook for 5 minutes, or until thoroughly heated.

03Meanwhile, prepare the mashed potatoes according to the store-bought package recommendations or use your own mash potatoes recipe. To loosen the mashed potatoes, stir them with a fork.

04Transfer the mince mixture to a 6-cup (1.5L) baking dish with a 5cm depth. Pour the mashed potatoes on top. Cook for 4-5 minutes under the grill, or until its golden brown on the top. Serve with mixed salad greens and flat-leaf parsley leaves.
