Bhuna howa gosht or mutton karahi is lamb meat or mutton cooked in yogurt, desi ghee, spices and herbs giving it a supreme taste.
Mutton Karahi Wok (Bhuna Howa Gosht) Recipe
Ingredients for Mutton Karahi Wok:
- 1 kg lamb meat (you can use goat or beef meat too)
- 4 pcs/1/2 kg onions, sliced
- 2 pcs black cardamom
- 2 pcs cinnamon sticks
- Around 20-25 cloves garlic
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 tbsp Salt
- 1/2 tbsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 cup Oil
- 3 tomatoes
- 3 green chilies
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 Spoon red chili powder
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 Tbsp red chili flakes
- 1 Tbsp white vinegar
- 1/2 Tbsp black peppercorn
- 1/4 spoon nigella/kalonji seeds
- 5 spoon yogurt
- 2 tbsp desi ghee
Method for Preparation for Mutton Karahi Wok:
01Cook the lamb meat in water, onions, garlic cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, salt and turmeric. Mix well.
02Once the meat is tender add 1/2 cup oil, tomatoes, green chilies, bay leaves, red chili powder, cumin seeds, red chili flakes, white vinegar, black pepper and kalonji.
03Stir them all up and cook for a few minutes. You can also adjust the spice level to your liking.
04After the meat is well done, add yogurt and 1/2 tbsp ground black pepper. Mix well for 5 minutes.
05Add 2 tbsp of desi ghee and cook for 5 more minutes.
06Your mutton karahi is ready, garnish with onions and coriander. Serve with naan & raita and enjoy!
